How Fantasy Soccer Works
A fresh kind of fantasy: you draft real clubs, not players. Play a season-long league — and, if your league opts in, the Continental Cup on the side.
The 60-second version
If you only read one thing, read this.
- You draft clubs, not players. Whole teams — Arsenal, Real Madrid, Inter — are what you own.
- Clubs score on real results. Wins, goals, clean sheets and more turn into fantasy points — and your league can weigh a tougher competition heavier than an easier one.
- 8 clubs, start 5. Each matchweek you pick 5 to start — only your starters score.
- Europe's best by default. The Big Five — England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France — plus more European leagues your commissioner can switch on.
- Head-to-head each round. Two matchweeks make a round against another manager; win rounds, climb the table, make the playoffs.
- An optional second game: the Continental Cup — a season-long chase played with Europe's Champions & Europa League clubs.
What makes this different
If you've played fantasy football, forget lineups of individual players. Here you manage a stable of clubs.
What exactly do I draft?
Real clubs — entire teams like Arsenal, Real Madrid or Napoli. You don't draft strikers and goalkeepers; you own the whole club, and it earns fantasy points from how the real team actually performs on the pitch.
Do I need to know soccer to play?
No. If you can read a league table, you can play. Points come from things anyone can follow — a club won, scored, kept a clean sheet — and the app does all the tracking and math for you. Newcomers and die-hards end up on a level field faster than you'd think.
Which real leagues and clubs are involved?
By default, Europe's "Big Five": the Premier League (England), La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy), Bundesliga (Germany) and Ligue 1 (France). Your commissioner can widen the pool with more European leagues — the Eredivisie (Netherlands), Belgium's Pro League, the Scottish Premiership, Turkey's Süper Lig and others — so your group has more clubs to choose from.
Building your roster
How does the draft work?
A live snake draft: everyone picks in turn, and the order reverses each round so it stays fair (last pick in round one gets first pick in round two). You've got about 90 seconds per pick, and you draft one club each round until every roster is full.
Any tips for drafting well?
Balance beats hype. A roster of six title-chasers who all play each other cancels itself out on the weeks they clash — someone has to lose. Mix proven point-scorers with clubs that have kind early fixtures, and don't forget only 5 of your clubs start each week, so depth matters as much as star power.
Line up a few backup targets before your pick comes around — the club you wanted often goes a spot or two early.
What if I can't make the draft, or my clock runs out?
Queue up the clubs you want in advance. If your timer expires, the app auto-picks the top club from your queue — or, if your queue's empty, the best club still available. You'll never miss a pick.
How many clubs do I end up with?
8 by default — but your commissioner can set the roster anywhere from 4 to 12 clubs.
Every draft happens live in our draft room — a shared clock, a queue, and an opt-in camera for the whole league.
Setting your lineup each week
How big is my roster, and how many start?
The default is 8 clubs: 5 starters and 3 on the bench. Every matchweek you choose which 5 clubs start. Only your starters score — bench clubs sit that week.
When do my clubs lock?
Each club locks at its own kickoff. So you can keep tweaking your lineup right up until a club's real match starts — clubs that have already kicked off are locked in, the rest are still free to move.
When your clubs play across different days, you can watch the early games and still swap a starter whose match hasn't begun. Kickoff-by-kickoff locking is a real edge if you pay attention.
What if one of my clubs doesn't play that week?
It scores 0 for the week — think of it as a bye. When you're picking your 5 starters, check that they actually have a fixture, so you're not starting an idle club and leaving points on your bench.
How clubs earn points
Every club scores off its real-world match — one stat at a time. Here's the whole pipeline, then the values your league ships with. Your commissioner can tune every one of them.
-
Your clubs play their real matches
Each matchweek your clubs play their actual domestic league fixtures — and those are the matches that score. European nights belong to the Continental Cup, not to your regular season.
-
Every stat becomes points
The result, each goal, the clean sheet, the saves, the shots, the passes — each is multiplied by your league's value for it, from the table below. Add them up and that's the club's score for the match.
-
League Strength adjusts for who they're playing
Optional, and off unless your commissioner turns it on. When it's on, a club's match total is scaled by how strong the competition is — so running away with a weaker league doesn't out-earn a hard week in a stronger one.
-
Your five starters add up
Only your 5 starters score — bench clubs bank nothing. Their match scores added together are your matchweek total, and two matchweeks make one head-to-head round against another manager.
What each stat is worth
Where do I see my league's numbers? Your league's own Rules page always shows the exact values in effect for you.
Big home win. Arsenal win 2–0: +5 win, +6 two goals, +3 clean sheet = 14 pts
Quiet but positive. Real Madrid draw 0–0: +2 draw, +3 clean sheet, plus saves and passes = 5+ pts
Even a loss scores. A club loses 3–1 but scores from outside the box: +5 goal, −3 conceded, plus shots & saves ≈ break-even
Not every league is equally hard
Optional · off by defaultScoring is competition-blind: beating a bottom-half side earns exactly what beating Liverpool earns. So a club that strolls through a weaker league can out-score a genuinely better club that faces real opposition every week. That isn't hypothetical — here is last season, scored with the default values above:
| Club | Played | Points | Rank | ×0.85 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PSV Eindhoven Eredivisie | 34 matches | 806.2 | 4th of 132 | 685.3 |
| Manchester City Premier League | 38 matches | 773.3 | 8th of 132 | 773.3 |
League Strength is the correction — your commissioner can scale each competition's points, so a point earned in a tougher league is worth more.
The Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1, at full value. A default league sits entirely here — which is why switching the setting on never moves a Big-Five club.
The Eredivisie, the Scottish Premiership, the Süper Lig and the rest keep 85% of what they score. Every non-Big-Five league starts here.
A steeper cut for a league your commissioner thinks needs one. Applied by hand only — nothing lands here on its own.
The same 14-point win, in each tier:
Domestic matches only. The Continental Cup is never weighted — there, clubs from every league already play each other, so Celtic away at Bayern is the hard fixture.
Why are some goals worth more than others?
Distance and difficulty. A tap-in from inside the box counts; a strike from outside counts more; a screamer from your own half is worth the most. It rewards the clubs that actually create big moments — not just the ones that get lucky from the spot.
Do the small stats actually matter?
They add up. Saves, shots on target and accurate passes are tiny on their own, but across a full 90 minutes a busy goalkeeper or a possession-heavy side quietly banks a real cushion — sometimes enough to swing a close round even without a goal.
Do my clubs score in the Champions League too?
Not in your regular season — that's scored from domestic league matches only. A midweek European run doesn't add to your matchweek total. European football is the Continental Cup's territory, a separate game with its own draft and its own roster.
What is League Strength, and why would my league turn it on?
Scoring is competition-blind: a win is a win, whoever it came against. Beat a bottom-half side and you earn exactly what you'd earn for beating Liverpool.
That quietly favours clubs in weaker leagues, and we can put a number on it. Across the 2025/26 season, scored with the default values above, PSV Eindhoven banked 806.2 points from 34 Eredivisie matches — 4th of 132 clubs. Manchester City managed 773.3 from 38 Premier League matches, and finished 8th. PSV outscored City by 33 points while playing four fewer games, and Sporting CP finished ahead of City too.
Nobody thinks PSV had a better season than City. They had an easier league.
League Strength is the fix: an optional multiplier that scales a competition's points down, so a point earned in a tougher league is worth more than a point earned in an easier one. At the Standard tier PSV's 806.2 becomes 685.3, and City finishes in front where you'd expect.
It's a scaling of the whole match, not a rewrite of the rules — a Standard-tier club still scores the same way, it just keeps 85% of the total.
How much does each tier take off?
Three tiers, and only three — your commissioner picks one per competition, never a freehand number.
Elite ×1.00 — Europe's Big Five, at full value.
Standard ×0.85 — every other league, and where they all start.
Minor ×0.75 — a steeper cut, applied by hand only.
A club that banks 14 points in a match keeps all 14.0 at Elite, 11.9 at Standard, or 10.5 at Minor.
Does League Strength touch my Continental Cup score?
Never — and that's deliberate, not an oversight. In the Cup, clubs from every league play *each other*: Celtic away at Bayern is the hard fixture. Discounting Celtic there would punish them twice for a difficulty the competition has already accounted for. The weighting applies to domestic league matches and nothing else.
Is it on in my league, and can it change mid-season?
It ships off. Nothing is weighted unless your commissioner deliberately switches it on — and the moment they do, the Big Five sit at Elite and every other league at Standard, so a default Big-Five league's scores don't move at all.
And it can't be sprung on you: League Strength locks the moment your draft starts. Whatever it says when you're picking clubs is what it says all season.
Check your league's Rules page before the draft — if strength is on, a dominant Eredivisie side is worth a little less than its raw points suggest, and that belongs in your draft board.
The Continental Cup
Europe's biggest nights, turned into a season-long fantasy game. Draft a squad of Champions League & Europa League clubs, then chase two trophies at once: a marathon and a knockout.
The Race
A season-long points chase with no head-to-head. Your drafted clubs pile up points across the entire European campaign — every round, all season. The top 8 scorers earn seeds into the Knockout.
The Knockout
Those top 8 go into a two-leg, aggregate head-to-head bracket — Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Final. Outscore your opponent across both legs to advance. Lose, and you're out.
Which clubs can I draft for the Cup?
Every club in the group stage of the chosen European competitions — 72 clubs when it's the Champions League + Europa League, or 108 if your commissioner adds the Conference League. You draft before anyone knows who'll advance, so you're betting on which clubs go deep.
How big is my Cup squad, and when's the draft?
6 clubs by default, and there's no bench — every club on your Cup roster scores every week. It's a separate draft, held around September when the European group stage begins, apart from your regular-season club draft. Same snake format.
How is a two-leg knockout tie scored?
Add up the fantasy points your clubs earn across both legs — highest aggregate wins the tie. If you're dead level, it's decided by your clubs' real goal difference across the tie, then goals scored, then the higher Race seed.
Wait — when are these knockout games actually played?
Your fantasy bracket is shifted one real round earlier so it fits the European calendar:
• Your fantasy Quarterfinal is scored from the real Round of 16
• Your fantasy Semifinal from the real Quarterfinals
• Your fantasy Final from the real Semifinals and Final combined.
Sounds fiddly, but you never have to calculate it — the app maps every real match to the right fantasy round for you.
What if one of my clubs gets knocked out in real life?
That club simply stops scoring from then on — but you're not out. Your run continues with your other clubs. You only get eliminated when you lose one of your own knockout rounds.
What happens when I lose a knockout round?
You're eliminated from the Knockout, and your Cup clubs are released into the waiver pool for the managers still alive. Important: this only affects the Cup — your Race score is never touched.
Is there a reward for clubs that go deep?
Yes — an advancement bonus (default +10) when one of the clubs you drafted actually advances past a round. Clubs you pick up later on waivers don't earn it, so drafting a deep run really pays off.
Can I add clubs during the Cup? What if too many of mine go out?
Between knockout rounds, surviving managers can claim still-alive clubs from the pool — including ones freed up by managers who were just eliminated. And there's a safety net: before each round, anyone still in the bracket who's short on live clubs gets topped up, so you're never left with nothing to field.
Can I win the Race even if I miss the Knockout?
Absolutely — they're two separate trophies. Miss the top 8 and you're out of the bracket, but your Race keeps running all season long. Plenty of managers chase one hard and let the other ride.
| The Race | The Knockout | |
|---|---|---|
| Who plays | Everyone, all season | Top 8 only |
| Format | Cumulative points, no matchups | Two-leg aggregate, head-to-head |
| Your roster | Frozen — your draft picks | Changes via waivers & releases |
| Bonus | None | +10 when a drafted club advances |
| Losing | Never removes clubs | Lose a tie → clubs to waivers |
Changing your roster in-season
Can I add and drop clubs during the season?
If your commissioner turns on waivers, yes — you drop a club and claim an available one. There are two common styles: FAB (a blind-bid budget, where the highest bid wins a club) or a traditional priority order. Heads-up: claims are processed in a nightly run, not the instant you submit them.
Can I trade clubs with other managers?
Yes — propose a club-for-club (or multi-club) swap to another manager. By default trades need commissioner approval before they go through.
Built around the real match calendar
A season that never leaves you idle
Your league runs only while the leagues are actually playing — so your clubs are never sitting dark while the title's on the line. Sixteen head-to-head rounds: thirteen to reach the playoffs, then a knockout to the Championship.
The regular season
Every round is a head-to-head matchup scored over two matchweeks, summed. Win your round, climb the table, and chase a top-6 finish.
The winter rounds
Over the Christmas break some leagues pause. So rounds 7 and 8 stretch to three matchweeks each, reaching into January — so a club on a winter break never leaves you on zero for a whole matchup.
The playoffs
The top six qualify and the top two seeds earn a bye. Then Playoff Round 1, the Semifinals, and a Championship decided while every league is still playing.
Sixteen rounds, one arc
Two rounds stretch to three weeks over the winter break, so a club on a mid-season pause never leaves you on zero — and the Championship is decided while every league is still playing.
Matchweeks, standings & playoffs
How is the season structured?
The season runs in weekly matchweeks. Two matchweeks make one head-to-head round against another manager — whoever's starters score more wins the round. Win rounds to climb the standings.
How do standings and tiebreakers work?
You're ranked by your record, with tiebreakers — total points scored, head-to-head results, and more — in an order your commissioner sets. Same idea as any league table.
How do the playoffs work?
The top teams make a bracket at the end of the season (6 teams by default). Some leagues run an "extended" final that stretches over an extra matchweek for a bigger finish.
Can my league be different?
Yes — scoring values, roster size, waivers, trades, tiebreakers and playoffs are all set by your commissioner. This page covers the common defaults; your league's own Rules page shows exactly what applies to you.
